The Foundation Stage Profile

The Curriculum guidance for the Foundation Stage sets out six areas of learning covering children's physical, intellectual, emotional and social development.

All six of these areas of learning are included in the Profile:

• Personal, social and emotional development;
• Communication, language and literacy;
• Mathematical development;
• Knowledge and understanding of the world;
• Physical development;
• Creative development.

A record of children's development across all of these areas provides a picture of the whole child at the end of the Foundation Stage.
