Accessibility
The Chilton Primary School web site has been written to the highest standards for web design and accessibility to make the web site easy to use and accessible to as many people as possible. This has been done by following the guidelines/principles laid down by the W3C and the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). See the standards section below for more information.
If you have difficulty using our site please contact the site admin and we will do our best to rectify this in future maintenance and development.
The site has been designed:
- For screen resolutions of 800x600 pixels and above.
- Using relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers. To display web page text larger or smaller go to the "View" menu in your browser, point to Text Size, and then click the size you want (this may differ depending on browser vendor).
- Using ALT text for all images to provide descriptive text.
- Using descriptive hyperlink text.
- Avoiding the use of frames, which can be hard to navigate and difficult for special browsers to interpret.
- With page navigation links for text only browsers to allow users to navigate easily within the web site.
Greater compatibility and future proofing has also been enabled to allow the site to remain readable and accessible across different browsers, platforms and devices even as browsers and web standards change.

Standards
eXtensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML)
The site has been written and validated against the latest W3C standards for page content, coding and structure. All pages on the site validate as XHTML 1.1. (with the exception of the games pages which have been written to HTML 4.01 Transitional). The (X)HTML validation status can be tested using the link at the bottom of each page.
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
CSS have been used to control page layout, add colour, style the pages and separate presentation from content. If your browser or browsing device does not support Cascading Style Sheets, the content of this site will still be readable and usable. The CSS used can also be tested using the link at the bottom of each page.
Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)
All of the pages on the site have been tested against the WAI guidelines and we believe conform to WAI level AA for web access.
